My concentration theme consists of a series of diptychs about what young teens want to be when they grow up. I am combining a black and white photo of the person, and a picture of an object or image symbolizing what they want to be when they grow up in color. This theme relates to me personally so I want to demonstrate the importance and variety of the types of goals and careers young people have.

New animal picture
I'd really like to add this one as my animal picture, I know it doesn't really depict a veterinarian, but I talked to her recently and she had revised her ideal career: she wants to associate with animals whether it's environmental protection agency, working with the ASPCA, being a veterinarian, or working at a zoo. I thought this picture portrayed a love for animals (because they are kissing, tee hee). Thoughts?

Optional substitution photos for final twelve.
I've retaken some food shots in improved sunlight and a lot more time available. I think I like the ones with the crumbs because they're a little farther back in the picture so then there's not two overwhelmingly close close-up shots together. Here are some examples:

End of the Week Post
I haven't had any time this week to upload pictures to Adobe and edit them, but I retook some of the food photos. I've attatched several examples of what I would like to use below (I didn't take the food shots). I plan to take lots of pictures over spring break and edit them thoroughly.

Work plan for week six
After I have been critiqued in class, I will determine my upcoming plans for my photos, but until then, I don't really have anything to go off of so I'm just going to go through my photos and make little corrections and fix detail things. I've realized that my food pictures are really not that interesting soooooo, I'm definitely going to retake them!
Here is one of the edited versions of the previous photo. I removed the sepia effect and added a slightly aged feel to the photo in B+W. Comments on how they compare and/or which is better?

Work plan for week five
This coming week I'm going to try and adjust the lighting on the cupcake, stuffed animals, and camera. Right now, they are a bit simple and a couple are washed out so I need to add creative lighting and/or back/forground. I will also adjust the contrast/saturation on Brett's face (cupcake man) because it's quite a bit gray and faded. For the veteraniarian, I'm not sure I like the subject matter for the animals. I might try to take pictures of live animals and see if that is more suitable.

Week Four: final diptychs!
Here are my ten photos with several teenagers and children. I asked them what they wanted to be when they grow up and then chose objects and backgrounds that correspond with their personal choices. Even if the career is a little abstract or hard to determine what it is, I provided a short description for each picture below each.
She wants to be an opera singer. The B+W photo of her is set on a stage and her costume symbolizes performance. The mask, rose, and piano represent stereotypical items found in an opera house or theater.
She wants to be an international dancer. The portrait of her is set on a train's engine to represent travel. The pointe shoes on the tracks represent dancing while traveling.
He wants to be an engineer. The car on his forehead and legos in the background depict the type of engineering. The biplane is a prominent feature furthering his dream of being an engineer.
He wants to be a pianist/compositionist for music. The quill, metronome, sheet music, and ink represent is love for composing music and the piano represnts how.
He wants to be a chef. I found the humor in this photo a bit irresistable and had to use it even though it may not be the best represenation of a chef.
She wants to be a veterinarian. She is leaning against a wooden rocking donkey (as opposed to a rocking horse). And the stuffed animals represent her love of animals.
She wants to be a writer. I placed a background setting of books, and then a diptych of a quill pen on a journal with candlelight.
She wants to be a photographer. The pictures surrounding her and the camera to the side symbolize her love for photography and wishes to create art with photography.
She wants to be a nutritionalist. There is a bit of irony implied in this photo in that the oranges and nuts are quite healthy, and she is holding a brownie to her mouth with glee. :)
I haven't decided which of these to use yet. She wants to be an actress. The masks represent the theater and artistry, and the setting is of an actual play that is performing at HRVHS (I thought this would increase the legitimacy).
I can't decide if I want to use the cupcakes or cake for him....
